The story of my life, my achievements, and my defeats are the main motivation behind the creation of New Comienzos. When I was four years-old, my family and I moved to Texas. My story is similar to that of many other Mexican men and women who have traveled to the United States to pursue their dreams and seek better living conditions. I am very proud of the sacrifice my parents made when they left behind everything that they knew and embarked on an adventure to a new country, without knowing the language or the culture. Everything they did was to improve my chances in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n Because I had no legal documents, I missed out on many personal and academic opportunities in my formative years. Despite the great difficulties of being undocumented, I managed to finish my degree in Business Administration and I began to work. Sooner or later, the U.S. immigration system caught up with me and in the most unexpected way: what began with a simple speeding ticket quickly unraveled into a series of events that led me to spend two years in a immigrant detention center. Eventually, I was deported to Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n This life experience and the sacrifices of my parents when I was little, led me to undertake an initiative to support others, who, like me, had gone through this experience. This is the story and origin of New Comienzos. My team and I have managed to help more than 3,500 Dreamers, returnees, migrants, and binational families to reintegrate into Mexican society through free services of all kinds: English certifications, psychological support, legal aid, among many others. New Comienzos is located in the Tabacalera neighborhood in Mexico City, where there is a close-knit community of migrants, now known as Little Los Angeles.
